Hello, my name is Bonni Taylor (pictured below) and I run Taylor Made Charters in St. Maarten with Captain Dougie

A very happy customer once wrote, “Dougie is an excellent fisherman. He knows where to find the fish!” Customers are always satisfied because he is always committed to seeing that you have a good time. Dougie began fishing with his grandfather as a young child. Since the age of nine, Dougie has fished and shared his fishing knowledge with others. As a teenager, he started fishing professionally and working on commercial boats that traveled up and down the Caribbean. As for me, I was a constant water baby back home in New Jersey and a fishing enthusiast, as well as a business-oriented person.

In 1997, Dougie and I combined our strengths to create Taylor Made Charters. Captain Dougie is dedicated to his craft and to ensuring that our visitors have a great time. He is full of fun, but quite serious about not "letting that big one get away!" I am equally concerned with our customers’ satisfaction. Our staff likes to say that I have “the distinction of being the only woman here who routinely does hand-line bottom fishing at night.” Our passion for fishing allows us to understand the needs of our clients, and that’s why we welcome numerous clients aboard each year.

The company debuted in 1997 and has been the first choice among those who share a passion for fishing. In fact, the staff itself is knowledgeable and experienced in deep sea fishing. It’s their passion. That’s why they understand what you need and they help you live your dream of cruising the island’s famous blue waters in search of the perfect catch!

Taylor Made Charters takes its guests on the best trip out on the ocean aboard a 28-foot Bertram Sportfishing vessel, which features twin 160 hp and Yanmar diesel engines. Taylor Made is also outfitted with: two Quad Base Fighting Chairs; six Penn Int'l IV and V Series Reels with up to 80 lbs. test; four Bent Butt Custom Rods and two Custom Star Rods. The boat is equipped with SOLAS-approved safety equipment, including life jackets, life raft and fire extinguishers. Plus, Taylor Made provides guests with the best captain and first mate, and refreshments and tackle. Taylor Made introduced and pioneered the "Share the Fish" concept to the anglers visiting St. Maarten. Yes, they will share the fish with their guests!

If you prefer a more “laid back” experience, you are welcome to lounge in the sun and enjoy a beach barbecue lunch. You can also have the chance to spot a turtle, a dolphin, and even whales.

Now in their tenth year of business, Taylor Made Charters counts numerous guests who have returned many times until they have become what the staff now refers to as “some of our best friends.” That’s why customers like to say that Taylor Made’s staff goes "...beyond the call of duty!"

Customer Reviews

I just wanted to thank Dougie and the crew aboard Taylor Made Charters for showing me a truly memorable fishing trip.  I booked a share charter after looking online at various fishing charter boats...  I have been fishing all over the world, and I must say that I have never been so satisfied with the level of service and commitment you guys showed me.  After the first hour or so when there was no fish or bites in sight, we picked up and went to another spot several miles off shore, where the action picked up.  Within minutes of setting our lines, the Mahi seemed to hit anything and everything we put out there.  But what was the most commendable, was the willingness to go try new spots when the fish were not biting at the previous spot.  This is an attribute that many captains do not practice.  I just wanted to thank you for the great experience you showed me and I attached a picture of the 45" Mahi I caught (and ate for lunch that afternoon).  I will definitely be looking you guys up the next time I am in St. Maarten.  Thanks again, and good fishing!

Best Regards,
Doug C.
